VERDICT

The 1More MK801 Over-Ear headphones don’t only offer excellent looks and high build quality, but also a very likable sound signature and responsive bass. They represent a fantastic choice for everyone who’s not afraid to go with a relatively unknown brand and try something new. The reward can be a pair of headphones that outperforms the established competition by a wide margin.

The MK801 are a product of a Chinese company that was founded in 2013. 1More’s main focus is on audio products, especially headphones and in-ear headphone. The manufacturer has already shown the whole world that they are capable of creating world-class products with some of their previous creations, and they want to replicate their success with their newest pair of over-the-ear headphones.

Design and build quality?

The matte red metallic finish of the 1More MK801 headphones is very smooth to the tough and resistant to scratches. Customers are, unfortunately, limited to just this one color, which is quite surprising because the headphones would look great in a whole pallet of different colors and color combination.

The use of TR-90 metal, allows the headphones to be twisted and bent without any damage, making them ideal for daily commuting, which often makes it impressible keep the headphones away from harm. This metal is also very lightweight and engineered to prevent resonance from occurring.

The construction of the headphones suggest the ability to fold them for storage, but that’s actually not the case. You can, of course, adjust the height of the earcups, but that’s about it.

The included cable plug into the right earcup and is fitted with an in-line remote controller. The buttons on this controller feel cheap, and almost make you feel like they were taken out from some other pair of headphones. At least, the microphone does a fairly good job transmitting your voice.

Sound quality?

The sound of these headphones is dark and smooth. Some people dislike this kind of sound signature because they find it unnatural, and others prefer it to any other because of its soothing nature. Indeed, “soothing” describes the sound quality of these headphones best.

The bass is well-managed, mids are slightly boosted, and highs are free of any spikes and dips. As a result, vocals are rendered with a good amount of details. For a closed-back headphones, the 1More MK801 have a wide soundstage and good instrument separation.

The noise isolation is respectable, but there are certainly better isolating headphones on the market. However, the sound leakage is kept at bay.

What’s in the box?

The stylish black paper box with a sleeve contains the headphone – securely covered in foam – a small red cardboard box that stores the cable, a carrying pouch, and a quick-start guide.
